Supporting Your Family's Autism Journey

We understand that the journey with autism is a family experience, which is why we offer a variety of group therapy options to support not only the children with autism but also their families. Here’s a look at our group therapy programs designed to provide comprehensive support and foster meaningful connections:

Social-Emotional and Friendship Group (ages 6-8 and 9-12)

This group is perfect for children with autism to learn essential social-emotional skills like self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship skills. Facilitated by licensed mental health clinicians, this group provides a safe and structured environment for children to practice these skills. It’s recommended that participants have completed individual therapy and are ready to engage in a group setting without one-to-one assistance.

PEERS (ages 13-17)

PEERS® is a 14-week, evidence-based social skills program for motivated teens in middle and high school who want to learn how to make and keep friends. Each session teaches important social skills, and they get to practice these skills through social activities. Parents attend separate sessions simultaneously to learn how to support their teens in expanding their social networks and providing feedback through weekly socialization homework assignments.

It’s a great opportunity for adolescents to practice making and sustaining friendships in a supportive setting. Completion of the PEERS program is recommended before joining this group.

This group is designed for parents of individuals with autism of all ages. It’s a supportive space to connect with other parents who understand the unique challenges of raising a child with autism.

Sibling Support (all ages)

This group is for siblings of individuals with autism. It provides a space for siblings to learn about autism, share their experiences, and develop skills to enhance their relationship with their autistic sibling. Connecting with peers who "get it" can be incredibly empowering and supportive for siblings.

At KGH Autism Services, we are here to support every member of your family as you navigate the autism journey together. We are committed to providing a compassionate, understanding environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.
