Half & Full Day Therapeutic Experiences for Preschoolers

At KGH Autism Services, we are committed to providing compassionate and expert support for families navigating a new autism diagnosis for their young child. Our goal is to help your child develop the skills they need to succeed in a kindergarten classroom, ensuring a positive and smooth transition.

A Program To Build Essential Skills for Kindergarten

Communication Skills

Your child will develop a successful form of communication and learn to effectively express themselves and understand others. Once these foundational skills are established, your child will have opportunities to practice and generalize these skills in small group settings, where they can learn to interact with peers and engage in cooperative activities.

Social Skills

We create structured and unstructured opportunities for your child to engage with peers, teaching them how to play with others, share, take turns, and understand social cues. These skills are first developed in 1:1 sessions and then expanded upon in small groups, preparing your child for the social dynamics of a typical classroom.

Toy & Social Play

Play is a critical part of learning for young children, and we place special emphasis on developing both toy play and social play skills. We help your child learn how to engage with toys appropriately, developing multi-step toy play sequences fostering creativity and problem solving. We introduce social play, where your child learns to play alongside and with peers, eventually learning to engage in complex play themes. These skills are essential for building friendships and participating in group play activities in kindergarten.

Group Instruction or Classroom Skills

As your child progresses with KGH, they will learn the critical skills necessary for thriving in a classroom environment. This includes following group instructions, participating in circle time, waiting for their turn, and engaging in cooperative learning activities. By practicing these skills in a supportive, small group setting, your child will gain the confidence and ability to successfully navigate the routines and expectations of a larger kindergarten classroom. Our goal is to ensure your child feels comfortable and competent in group settings, laying the foundation for successful integration into a typical school environment.

Learning How to Learn on Their Own

One of the most empowering aspects of our approach is teaching your child how to become an active, natural learner. We focus on developing your child’s ability to explore new concepts, solve problems, and engage with new material on their own. This involves teaching them observational learning, how to seek help when needed, stay focused on tasks, and use the tools and resources available to them. By fostering a love of learning and the skills to pursue it independently, we prepare your child not just for kindergarten, but for a lifetime of learning.

What does our Early Learner Program Look Like?

Our Early Learners Program is designed to equip your child with the foundational skills needed for success in a kindergarten setting. Key focus areas include:

Personalized Assessment and Intervention

We begin with a thorough, individualized assessment conducted by our interdisciplinary team. This includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), speech therapists, and occupational therapists. This initial evaluation allows us to craft a tailored intervention plan that addresses your child’s unique strengths, needs, and interests.

Integrating NDBI and Play-Based ABA Therapy

Our approach combines Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI) with play-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to provide an effective and engaging learning experience.

  • Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI): We embed learning opportunities into your child’s everyday routines and interests. By following your child’s lead, we create meaningful, context-rich teaching moments that help them acquire new skills in a natural, enjoyable way. This method supports skill generalization, ensuring your child can apply their learning across different settings.
  • Play-Based ABA Therapy: We make learning fun and motivating through play-based ABA. This approach integrates educational goals with play, allowing us to target areas such as communication, social interaction, and cognitive development while keeping your child engaged. By blending therapy with enjoyable activities, we make learning feel like a natural part of play.

Comprehensive Therapy Services Included

In addition to NDBI and play-based ABA Therapy, your child will receive direct therapy and essential support from the rest of your child’s team.

  • Speech Therapy: Our speech therapists focus on enhancing your child’s communication skills, including expressive language, comprehension, and pragmatic language use. We employ individualized strategies to support your child’s development in a way that aligns with their unique needs and learning style. Work with AAC devices and feeding therapy, if needed, are also included.
  • Occupational Therapy: Our occupational therapists work to improve your child’s fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, regulation, and daily living skills. Through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities, we help your child build the confidence and abilities necessary for greater independence and participation in daily activities.
